Doc Don:
Thank you so much for the help. This really helped. I had my blood test today and requested in writing that they do TSH (which was all they did last time), free T3, free T4 and thyroid antibodies (that might be too general, but perhaps they will figure it out). My doc was not there -- I just went in early and gave them some blood.
I am thinking that perhaps the fact that I most often take a nap after working outside might be indicative of some deficiency. I never thought about it, but really cannot stay awake when I work a couple hours outside. It is pretty strenuous work, and this time of year in the heat, so I was thinking this was normal. This is really nothing new for me, but the lab tests just recently showed a problem, so that is why I did not conntect them.
If the lab tests still indicate a problem, I feel like I should opt for a minimal treatment and see how it affects the way I feel and the lab results for about three months or so. If you, or anyone, have some comments on this, I will really appreciate it. Especially any recommended treatment for my (marginal) situation.
I will definitely keep you all in touch with it.
Thanks a Million!!! -- dave
PS -- I apologize to all of the people on this list who really have BIG problems ... I feel for you -- walking around tired all the time must be just terrible.
I am 63 and otherwise in very good health. I am not asking for a diagnosis,
just advice on what to ask my doctor to do. >>>>
The most you could hope for would be that your doctor pay attention to your
overall health and treat accordingly.
In my humble experience (IMHE), there are far too many docs who ignore
patients and listen only to labs; hence, List Serves like this one fill up with
Intelligent, Empowered people who struggle to get the help they need. <<<
