SP2 turns the XP firewall on by default. It also plugs a lot of security
holes against high-risk areas such as these.
Try turning your firewall off, or reducing its restrictions (at your risk).
It always helps if you told us what solutions you've already tried, or
you'll just get repetitive answers, or, more likely, none at all.
Most of the best informed advice (Fred Langa et al.) I've seen so far is to
treat SP2 with caution. If your system is reasonably updated with critical
updates, there's apparently nothing much in SP2 of any great importance,
and it will undoubtedly have a few bugs to iron out as always.
If you don't have any pressing need for it, leave it to the experts to get
sorted out.
Sure, you can have total security if you don't let anything in. In which
case, you may as well browse the internet with a mousetrap.
