Hi Anna,

Personally I haven't seen much interference with MS Office 2003,
however,that's not to say that you will not encounter any.
As usual, backup your system - set a restore point etc

OO.o has its own problems,like almost any large piece of software.
Just see the user entries for June 2008 only,  http://tinyurl.com/5k42nm
Also,OO.o will behave somewhat differently on Linux,depending on the 
distro,so don't base all your experience on what it does under XP

Are any problems created trying to run OpenOffice alongside
MSOffice2003?  I see Linux in my future and I'd like to try it out.
