I use and recommend the freeware enzip, available from
http://website.lineone.net/~chris_m
A doubleclick on a zip-file will show the content, a right click gives the option to unpack it in various directories and a right click on any other file will let you create a new zip-file or add it to an existing one. Smooth and easy and using very few resources.
