We've discussed this thread before, but I couldn't find the reference
either so, here ya go!

Close Communicator.
Using Notepad or similar text editor, browse to C:\Netscape\Users\(your
user
 ID)\ and open the file "prefs.js"  (make a backup copy first!!)
You will see the history listed such as:
user_pref("browser.url_history.URL_1","http://www. infoseek.com/");
user_pref("browser.url_history.URL_2","http://www.hotbot.com/");
etc., etc.
Delete the entries making sure to delete the ENTIRE LINE including the
"user_pref" part. Save the file and restart Communicator!
