Are you using a blank CD-R disc or a previously formatted CD-RW disc. I'm
using WinXP with Roxio Easy CD Creator and it does work. However if I try to
use a previously formatted CD-RW disc and then add data to it using the
"Make a Data CD" option I get the same error. Try rebooting and then use a
blank CD-R or CD-RW disc that has NOT been formatted. Once you format a disc
using Direct CD it always takes control off the disc every time you put it
in the drive. It is expecting you to use it in the same way you use a
formatted floppy disc. You can drag & drop, copy & paste files to it and
also erase them.

Good Luck,

Joe

Subject: [PCSOFT] Roxio Easy CD Creator

Can anyone help!

When I purchased my computer it came with a great little program Roxio Easy
CD Creator which is a great help for novices like me to burn and copy info
to CD's.

There is a part in the program that can enable you to 'make a data CD'
which you can archive your computer files to CD. When you actually choose
the files to add and archive to CD, then press 'record' each time it comes
up with a box and says....

Reservation conflict! This drive is in use by another application "Roxio
Direct Cd Kernel" cannot use it until the application has completed.

It always seems to be in use by this 'application' and I cannot use this
part of the program which is frustrating as it is the part I want most..Can
you help! I have Windows XP home edition operating system.

Thankyou!!!!!
