To permanently get rid of the task scheduler, if you have the "Microsoft Critical Update
Notification" program installed on your computer, you have to uninstall it. Trash that
program, and then you can uncheck the task scheduler(task monitor) in system
information/system configuration/startup, and it will stay gone. You must uninstall the
Critical Update, that program keeps putting it back in the start up as long as you have
it! That's how I got rid of it!
