Here is my progress. I tried tips that people sent me via the list and
privately. I certainly learned a lot about my computer and how many
redundancies there are when something gets into the system. I could not
find the picture anywhere. I shut down and rebooted. The offending picture
did not come up. I thought I was safe.

Then, I saw Tom's solution, and what the heck...gave it a try. There is the
picture! I right clicked and hit delete. It did not delete. I closed down
search and reopened it and looked again. It was gone.

I hope it's gone for good. As I told Elliott, I will just put on my glasses
if I want to see something rather than cut corners. Whew. You guys are
great.

 Look in \Document and Settings\*you*\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer where *you* is your windows 2000 username. This is where
right-click menu 'set as wallpaper' graphics are stored by default.

Hi, Folks. I downloaded a photo from a website and set it as background so
I could see it better. I decided I didn't want the photo as background, so
changed the wallpaper back to my usual, boring stuff. Now, when I boot up,
this photo comes up briefly on the desktop, then disappears. My desktop is
back as I set it with the plain MS wallpaper.
