Hi Ben,
The files that come as an ISO file have to be burned as a bootable image
file,
not as data.Most burners have a setting for that.
XP doesn't support burning bootable image files.Nor does it support
burning DVDs.
You'll need a proper burning program for this.

BTW, the download section of FreePCTech contains a wealth of very useful
files as well.
The Boot disc section you were in has a burner provided in several of
the boot discs.
It's called ISO Burner - A newer version can be found at
http://www.ntfs.com/iso-burning.htm
I should also mention -as a shameless plug - that in the same section
you'll find some excellent utility discs.
