I often tell people, "Right-click is the key to Windows."
In this case, right-click the desktop and look at the "arrange by" or
"Sort by options". You may have some align option selected. Deselect it
and pick the options you want.

Subject: [PCSOFT] Desktop icons

I have my desktop icons arranged on the left side of my screen, from top
to bottom. Up until today, I have always been able to change them around
to my liking by simply dragging and dropping the icon where I want it.
But all of a sudden, that is no longer an option. When I drag and drop
them, all other icons get moved to different locations on my desktop.

How can I get back to where I once was i.e., where I can place an icon
exactly where I want it to stay, without disrupting the rest of them. I
would be most grateful for a solution.

Incidentally, I use Outlook Express/Internet Explorer.

Many thanks, Dottie Hoch
