You can (and should) download the virus and firewall programs before
removing Norton.  Then, unplug the wire to the internet and then
uninstall Norton.  Then you can install the new a/v and firewall.
And,finally, plug back in the wire to the internet and grab whatever
updates you might need for the two new programs.
