For the last day or so, I've been getting the following message when I've
attempted to install *some* new programs:
"Failure writing to the system registry. The Registry may be corrupt or you
may not have the required permissions to write to the registry."
But my system is running perfectly. I am not experiencing any problems
anywhere else. I've poked around a bit in the registry but all appears
fine. I've changed the attributes in system.dat and user.dat to allow
writes, all to no avail. I don't want to use regclean.exe because it screws
up my system every time I do use it (I've learned not to use it).
Any ideas as to what I can do?
