Peter,
Once upon a time I stumbled into that same
nightmare. Each time I clicked to close a
window, it opened 2 or 3 more! It didn't take
long for me to max out my system with about
25-30 IE windows all spewing filth and trash.
I too tried to figure out how it was done,
in the hope of preventing it in the future........
I'll answer your #2 first since it's the easiest......
You can't. All you can do is keep clicking your
STOP and EXIT buttons as quickly as possible
and ....... hope.
Now on to your #1 question....
It isn't HTML.
It is accomplished either with a script(ing) language
like Java, Javascript, or Visual Basic --
or with an HTTP-EQUIV in a META TAG.
Use your favorite search engine and look for
HTTP-EQUIV
then explore the SITE-ENTER and SITE-EXIT
attributes.
