What if you don't have the CD--XP came with the computer? I have a recovery
disk. Would it be on there?

Hugh was correct when he stated that there is a backup program included with
XP. Backup is not installed on XP Home by default - only on the Pro version.
To manually install Backup on XP Home Edition:
1. Insert the XP Home Edition CD in the DVD/CD-ROM drive and exit any
windows that appear. In Windows Explorer, navigate to:
DVD/CD-ROM Drive:\VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP
2. Read the "README.TXT" file paying particular attention to what it says
about ASR (Automated System Recovery). I suggest you copy it to My Documents
or somewhere for handy reference later.
3. Double-click the "NTBACKUP.MSI" file to start a wizard that installs
Backup.
4. When the wizard is complete, click "Finish".

I'm sorry but you are mistaken-the home XP does not have a backup
program-only the Professional XP has this.

There is a backup program included with XP, and you'll find it in System
Tools. If it's not there, you'll need to install it from the CD.
This is a very straightforward program that asks you which files to back up,
and where you want to create the backup.
Unfortunately, XP won't backup to CDs and floppies are too small for most
backups. I use a network PC for this purpose, but you could just create the
backup on your hard drive, then burn it to a CD, if you have that
capability.
You'll find more detail in the Help files under "Backup".
Copying is also a good backup for such files-just burn a CD (Or several, if
needed).
You may wish to include a subject line in future posts so members can get

I have windows xp, and my computer is HP pavilion a305w. I have pictures

back up and no matter what I do nothing works. I have tried everything that

written for my computer and it still won't back up my pictures or files. I
thought I had solved it today, but to no avail. Have you any idea what steps
