Hi Diane,
Short answer : You can't use WMP to do this. It's only suitable to rip media files.

Hopefully helpful answer:
As usual there are several ways to go about this, but considering Win7 already has
ISO and CD/DVD burning capabilities, you need something to create an ISO from the files
on the Restore CD/DVD.

A nice tutorial is here:

How To Create An ISO image
http://forevergeeks.com/how-to-create-an-iso-image

Direct links to ISO Recorder
http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/W7.htm

Note: You can do it 2 ways - Insert the Restore disc -don't let it run .
1.Using ISO Recorder ,navigate to the CD/DVD drive and create ISO from the files on the disc.
2. Alternatively, copy all the files to a folder, preferably with a short path ,like C:\RestoreDisc
You will subsequently save the created ISO to a folder C\ISO and burn it from there.
(obviously both folders should be created beforehand)

As mentioned ,there are other ways to do this by using CD/DVD burning programs that will create and subsequently burn the ISO, but considered the above the simplest solution.

As a side note, I was never impressed with Restore discs, since they put you back to an almost "blank canvas".
They don't contain any of the Updates or programs that were added after the initial installation.
You would be much better off to use a backup program that can restore the backed-up image to a bare drive if needed.

You could use the built-in Windows backup utility ,initially creating a restore partition
and then subsequently backing up to an external drive. Restore may possibly be done via the Restore disc,
but not sure of its capabilities. (This function does exist on a full retail DVD though)
Check the Restore CD for the - restore backed-up files - function.

Other backup programs that use a rescue CD ,are eg
Paragon Backup & Restore http://www.paragon-software.com/home/db-express/
Macrium Reflect http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.asp
Easeus ToDo Backup http://www.todo-backup.com/

Subject: [PCSOFT] Copying a CD

*I have a restore disk that came with my computer and want to make a backup.

How do you copy an entire CD to another CD with one CD drive, which is my
burner.
I'm not running any burning software except Windows Explorer, iTunes and
Windows Media Player.
ASUS computer running Win7 64 bit.

Thanks.
