Hello ,
I'm using Windows 98SE & I've been having this problem for several months.
It seems like this problem started when I upgraded my web browser to IE6.0. I am on AOL. here's my problem.
Whenever I try to click on a link thats within a web page, all I can get is a blank web page with my hour glass hanging up.And whenever I try to read my AOL web mail, I can get to the mail box ,but the problem is,whenever I click on a piece of mail to read, it tries to open tha mail so I can read it , but then again all I get is a blank white page.I can use NETSCAPE & not have this problem with reading my AOL email via the web. Neither can i play the dominoes games i used to be able to play in Yahoo. I can get to the game selection but when i click on the room I want to go too all I can get is a blank screen again.
Also whenever I try to do a Windows update, and then after it scans my computer & shows me the critical updates that my computer needs, when I read the details of the upgrade being offered there's a link that says ''read more"
which has more information about the update, then I have the same problem again, a small window pops up & there's nothing there!! all I can see is my desk top in the background.. and so I click start download,& my progress bar never moves so I click Cancel & then i get an error message from Microsoft telling me they had encountered a problem & then they have a button that I can click on to send them a report. so therefor I can't do any Windows updates. either.
It makes me wonder if there isn't a missing file or corrupted file in Internet Explorer 6.0 since i can view my aol email via the web when using NERSCAPE WEB BROWSER !
Someone advised me to update my OLEAUT32.DLL .but I'm afraid to do this because I don't know that much about using a computer & I wouldn't know how to even start doing something like that.
I've uninstalled & re installed IE 6.0 3 times as well as my AOL software & nothing has changed. So if anyone can help me resolve this problem it would be appreciated very much :-)
Thank you for any help & I apologize for this long post ,but I wanted to send as much information as I could to make it easier diagnosing my problem :-)
