It's a good question, and I've never heard of any such incident. Do your arrow keys work? Were you using numpad arrows with numlock off? Could you press enter to immediately enter the selected option? If not, BIOS needs to be patched or reconfigured. Also, it is ALWAYS the arrow key and nothing else which you use to select an item. It may be that Windows detected something that it wouldn't let you ignore. Always avoid hard shutdowns if possible; they destroy Windows.
