I have 2 PC's, both running Win98. The PC's are networked via a hub
using IPX. I have a cable modem connected to one via a network card. I
would like to set up the 2nd PC to share the connection to the internet,
but have not been able to figure out how, to this point. I understand
that the PC's must use TCP/IP for this connection, but must confess
ignorance to setting up a TCP/IP network. By connecting the modem to
the "uplink" on my hub, both PC's can connect to the internet using the
cable modem, but not at the same time. The modem has firmware that
includes a "setup screen" that includes the client IP address of
198.168.100.2.--Obviously when I set both machines to this address I get
hardware conflicts.

Is it necessary to install third party software such as Wingate to make
this work? If so, how must I set up the machines to accomplish this
"sharing". Any suggestions you could give me regarding the physical set
up as well as getting the network setting correct would be greatly
appreciated.
