If an account is deleted in Win2k, then it is gone for good - I know of
no way to retrieve it except from a backup of the system files. If there
is no administrative level account still on the computer, then your only
solution is to perform an upgrade install of Win2k. This will create a
new administrative account. All the configurations for the previously
deleted administrator account will, of course, be lost. Unless your
client deleted the folders that contained the files, the data files
should still be there and be accessible. If the folder and files were
deleted as well, then it is possible to recover them only through a very
difficult process of disk patching. Lets hope this is not needed.

One of my clients mistakenly either deleted her admin profile acct for
her Win2k Pro desktop or deleted her password and userid for access to
said admin acct. I haven't seen the computer laptop yet so I can't
really state which is the case. Either way it isn't good.. In addition
to this apparently all of her documents etc... that were created while
in this profile and attached to that admin profile are no longer
accessible.. Now she has access to her desktop only as a regular user
and of course any folders etc.. created in her deleted profile are no
longer available. Is there any programs or hacks out there to recover
deleted profiles/userid&pw's from Win2k Pro? If I use a Win98 boot disk
and boot to dos can I see and recover these missing files that don't
show up when she loggs on as a regular user in Win2k Pro? I do know that
she has Fat32 as her file system. I instructed her to not add or change
anything else on her hard drive until I get a chance to evaluate the
damage.. Hopefully I can restore said profile w permissions,etc....
Anyone have a clue on this
