Ken,
If you end up reinstalling Windows 95 here is how you can keep you programs
and settings. Go to the run option above the start button, use browse to
find setup for Windows on the CD. When the setup starts it will detect the
pervious install and give you the option to install only the missing or
corrupted files, if you don't see this option cancel the install and try
again.
