1. Cleansweep or similar--
this monitors every installation so can log and remove every
step--also backs up every deletion so that you can restore whole prog or
any individual file if needed.
I've used it for years with never a problem.
2. Programs uninstall programs---
should be OK but you are dependant on the skills of the original
programmer. Can occasionally be unreliable.
3. Add/Remove Plus---
Don't know this one--might be OK as long as it monitors each
installation fully. You'd want to know something about its parentage, as
there's always a danger of deleting shared files. Does it make backup in
case of error?
4. Add/Remove Programs (Microsoft)---
Last choice. Reliable (usually) but rather limited. Usually doesn't
remove registry entries, though these generally don't do any harm. No
backup if you get it wrong and remove something you didn't intend.
5. Any other options to uninstall programs---
Yes--(a)see article on my webpage (Computer tutorials section) on
creating a registry comparison before and after installation. Can be of
limited use if you don't have Cleansweep or Windelete or similar uninstall
program. Useful if you only use Add/Remove.
               (b) Backup registry before installing a major program about
which you're not sure, so that you can restore registry if you decide to
uninstall that program. (Regedit/Export is sufficient for this
purpose). Not necessary if you use a good uninstaller.
