Gordon, IExplore.exe (or, if I type it all in lower case, iexplore.exe) is a legitimate file, as are it's associated files like IExplore.hlp etc.
No, the one to look out for is explore.exe.
However, it's conceivable that some software writer has at some time created a file called explore.exe, as part of an innocent application. So if you were to run across a file of that name inside a program folder called 'Aunt Jemima's Pudding Recipe Creator', it's probably kosher, and not a dangerous file.
But if you find explore.exe lurking in the Windows folder, or the system folder or the system32 folder, it's a fair bet that it's up to no good :--))

When I search for explore.exe in either upper or lower case the search
responds with } |EXPLORE.EXE although the vertical slash is physically
closer to the capital E than in my example. Is this the worm you identify
below or is it a valid file which belongs. I do not appear to have lost any
files.
