Not an answer to your question, but a simple alternative:

Try moving the program to the folder in which you do most of your
work.  Many programs by default go to the parent folder in which they
reside. So if it's now in C it will open in C.  If it's simply a type of
batch file, moving it probably won't involve any installation hassles.

If it does require installation, then uninstall and reinstall in the
appropriate folder rather than in C where it presumably now sits. Don't
just delete it, as this will leave conflicting registry entries.
