All the Dells I've seen have a disk that specifically says "Operating
System", so you may be missing one.
It would be faster and easier to just create a new user, log on to that
user and delete your old account along with its files.

Hi all,
I have ordered my new Studio 17 laptop.
I want to restore my old Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop back to the factory
specs before I pass it on to a family member. I want all of my stuff off
of it.
With the laptop, the following disks came with it.
Verbage on each disk,
Disk one For Reinstalling Dell Tools System software
Disk two For Reinstalling Cyberlink Power DVD software
Disk three For Reinstalling Sonic MYDVD 5/3 LE and RecordNow 7.1 LE
Software
Disk four Drivers and Utilities For REinstalling Dell Inspiron System
Software
Disk five Drivers and Utilities Dell Wireless 1450 11a/b/g/ WLAN Card
Dell TrueMobile 1300 802.11b/g PC Card
I am assuming that Disk four is the operating system and all of the
system software.
Am I correct? And do I load all of these disks onto the computer to wipe
it clean and take it back to factory?
TIA
tannis z TN
