You may be referring to a post I made on the PCBuild list a month ago
which said to go to
http://www.dell.com/support
Pick the appropriate product category and you'll eventually end up at a
page which covers the specific product that you have. Somewhere on the
PC case you'll find a tag which has a product support number (or similar
nomenclature), and you can use that number to get the correct data for
that PC as it was shipped; you'll also find links to the proper manuals,
software updates, etc. I'm sorry for the vagueness, but it has been
several years since I used the service when I was working on my son's PC.
