Tim - I just wanted to jump in here because I recently came to the list
with similar problems in the fax program that came with Win95.  I was
delighted to take the suggestions of the list members and try WinFAX PRO
8.0 at the Symantec site http://www.symantec.com/winfax/

Its a 45 day trial demo which I was also glad to use since I wasn't
convinced one way or the other about any particular program but I did know
that after attempting the Fax program that came with Win95, the program I
ultimately wound up with would NOT be that one!

If you are set on that Windows fax program, stop reading here.  If you are
open to trying a fax program because you REALLY need one now and don't have
time to fool around with the MS FAX ( that was my situation), then try (and
enjoy) the ease of WinFax PRO.  We have used it extensively for my
husband's work and will buy it as soon as the demo timing runs out.
