I thought of something that could have caused this and is that your registry
might have got foul up. If that is the case you can try this

Try this with no guarantees. But it does work in situation that
have no apparent solution. What you are doing is  getting windows
to go back to the last know good boot file and use it. Here is
what you do:Go to dos and type the following from the root
directory.
C:\attrib -r -h -s user.da0
       attrib -r -h -s user.dat
       attrib -r -h -s system.da0
        attrib -r -h -s system.dat
Then reboot and see what happens. If this doesn't work then run
setup from the windows 95 cd. Insert the cd and click browse the
cd. Go to the root folder and open setup there should be a way
there to reload the software over corrupted files, which is what
you want to do.
