As Paula described, go in Outlook express,  tools,  options,  send, HTML
plain text settings, and uncheck, (indent the original text).
There is also a small free program, "eCleaner", you can probably find on a
"google" search, that works for cleaning up all the > and other things from
forwarded mail.
