Have you tried system restore to a point before your problem started? It may
cause you to re-install any software you have installed since that point (?)
and I'm not sure if it affects documents saved since (??) maybe others can
clarify. But if it fixes the problem, I would consider this a lot easier and
less problematic than a re-format.
