Hello Dave,

If you have used a browser other than Internet Explorer and have since
uninstalled it, Internet Explorer may not be set as the default browser.
This can cause the links in Outlook Express (OE) to not work. Also, you may
need to re-register the URL monitor. Sometimes you have to spank it if it's
not working.

Click on Start \ Run and enter: "REGSVR32 URLMON.DLL" (sans quotes). Copy
and paste to insure you copy it exactly. Click "OK". You should then have a
dialog tell you that the procedure was completed. Next, fire up Internet
Explorer and Click Tools \ Internet Options \ Programs \ then click the
"Reset Web Settings" button. Insure the box at the bottom is checked for
"Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser".
Click "OK". If you get a prompt that states,"Internet Explorer is not
currently your default browser. Do you wish to make it the default?" click
"Yes". Now, check to see if Web links work like they should in OE. With any
luck, you'll have returned your system to normal.

Subject: [PCSOFT] Clickable link access

All of a sudden I lost the ability to use hot links that show up in my
emails or in other applications to access websites. Can anyone give me some
steps to change this so I don't have to copy and paste the URL of a website
to the browser address bar.

I am using Win98 on a AMD K-6 PII 366 machine. Thanks for your help.

Dave
