Installing Windows 98SE is no guarantee you will only inherit the same
registry problem! If you can describe the problem, we can help solve it,
then you can upgrade. Have you tried SCANREG in DOS to see if you have a
good backup registry you can use? Just restart in DOS mode and type
SCANREG, choose to view old backups and pick one from a earlier date, then
the system will want to restart if you were successful. If there are no
good backups, you can delete all of them in DOS (in C:\Windows\ there is a
folder with 5 *.cab files and other files that can be deleted, I don't have
Win95B here and forgot the folder name), including your system and user DAT
and DA0(zero) files (in C:\Windows) , reinstall Windows 95B and reinstall
all your applications. All your data will survive just fine. This is all
time consuming, let's try to solve the registry problem first.

Please help clarify something for me. I have a registry problem with Win95b.
I have been told I can install 98se on top of the existing OS without having
to re-install the existing apps. How can this be? I know if I reinstall 95b
this will not be the case.
