Bob, thanks for the suggestion. I tried the recovery option last night.
Reboot. Still the same error message. Eventually, I did the full
installation, and it runs this morning. I will have reinstall a lot of
programs now.... Total time spent: probably 6 hours or so.... What a pain.
That's one thing good about Mac. You can fix a broken system in 30 minutes
if you keep a backup fresh copy of the system. No software need to be
reinstalled (some software do need preference for registration, setting
info)...
Is there an easier way on PC?
BTW, is there a way to disable checking disks during startup (Windows 2000)
if you didn't turn off the computer properly. TweakUI has an option to turn
it off but I don't see it on Win98 version any more.
