Recently, on system shut down, it will not. Checking in Alt-Ctl-Del, there is a listing
"msnupdate!@#@". When I end that task, the shut down is normal. If I don't end that task then I have
to do a hard boot & of course, scan disk runs on the next bootup. There is no "msnupdate..." file on
my hard disk, none on msconfig, startup. It only shows up in Alt-Ctl-Del, after I try to shut down.
Any ideas? Thanks, Bill

Bill,
I searched the net and found no such file (msnupdate!@#@ or msnupdate.exe). For that reason, I
would start by doing a full virus scan on your PC. If that turns up nothing - did you recently
install Microsoft's auto-update? If so, here's what they suggest to disable it:
How to uninstall
Uninstall is not available for this component. You can disable automatic updating by following these
steps:
Click Start.
Point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
Double-click Automatic Updates.
Select Turn off automatic updating. I will update my computer manually.
If that does not solve the problem, check here to troubleshoot WinME shutdown problems:

Good luck,
