A re-format is the *ultimate answer* for when things go wrong.
It is safer to make a back-up (or Image file), or clone to a newer
bigger HD of the system before hand because you WILL forget
something and loose it. ;-(
Bringing a system back from "bare metal" is a lot of work.
A lot of people find at least some of their install disks are lost
or that their recovery partition (if any) does not work.
A full Image of the HD solves all these problems.

From: "Clyde W. Burns" microsoft media player
Recently I have not been able to burn cd's with microsoft media player. I switched back to media player 10 but it still will not
recognize the burner. I can burn cd's with Roxio or Zune's player. I also have a Zune HD and I can't sync with the media player
either, it says no device shown or something like that. I have other software problems and my machine is 5 years old Gateway 506gr
with 2.5 gigs of memory and I am wondering if a reformat would help as I have put a lot of utility programs on and uninstalled a lot
of them over the last few years.
