I've seen a very similiar problem before. It was not a virus. It would
fall more into the category of a Trojan Horse. Have you downloaded a
program lately that didn't perform as titled? For instance in my case the
file was said to be a graphics file organizer. It flashed a screen that said
something like "Sorting files.....please wait." All the time it was
recursively making subdirectories until the hard drive filled up.
I hope this helps you figure out what program caused your problem.
Think of any recently run programs.
