I believe that "sort bookmarks" is truly broken in Communicator (to date).
It is so for me and I have seen numerous messages on the Communicator
NUGGIES newsgroup at <http://help.netscape.com/nuggies/>.
As for saving files, go to c:\program files\Netscape\users\username\
(or the path where you installed Communicator. The last folder,
named username here, will actually show the same name as the first
part of your email address). With Communicator closed, remove the
"read only" attribute from the file prefs.js in this folder.
(Right click on the file and choose Properties. Attributes is near
the bottom of the properties sheet.)
With Communicator still closed, open prefs.js with Notepad.
There is a line that might read something like
user_pref("browser.download_directory", "C:\\SAVED");
(the ";" at the end is part of this line). Replace C:\\SAVED with
anything you like. Notice that each "\" must be written as a
pair of "\"s ("\" is a "special" character). That is, put
\\ for each \ in the path for your "saved" directory.
Save your changes to prefs.js and close notepad. Return the
"read only" status to prefs.js.
Regards,
Bill
