If you already have an antivirus, you may be able to boot to Safe Mode and
run it from there. It may need an update to handle this current infection,
however.
If you can identify the particular beastie, Norton's web site often has
removal tools available which could be downloaded via another machine and,
again, run from Safe Mode.
Every Norton package I've seen that includes antivirus has also included a
sheet of instructions on how to proceed if you bought the package to deal
with a computer that was already infected. I'm not sure, though, whether
that includes an update step in case the virus is newer than the disk.
