Thank you to all that replied to my question about keeping the status bar
visible at all times. Special thanks to  Orf Bartrop and Huynh Minh Huong . Each
of them gave me the same answer which is included below and it solved my
problem

Set Windows Explorer to show the Status Bar. Go to Tool / Folder Options
/ View, scroll down and tick "Remember each folder's view settings".
Close Windows Explorer and when re-opened it should be the same as when
you closed it.
