PART ONE:  Automatically loading browser.

Most people want this feature, however, if you don't.....
You may just have a problem with the shortcut you are using.
What do you click on, when you connect to your ISP?   A desktop icon or a  start
menu item?  In either case, point to the icon and click the RIGHT mouse button.
Select properties and see what the TARGET actually is.

PART TWO:  Multiple Browsers

The multiple browser windows is probably the result of a setting in MSIE.
Open IE and then select:  VIEW -- INTERNET OPTIONS -- ADVANCED tab
and then UNcheck the box for BROWSE IN A NEW PROCESS.
