A Gateway computer with Windows 98 installed , using I E 6, and Netscape 4.79 ,
has shutdown problems, and many, many 'solutions ' have been tried , but none
work, so far. Hard drive has been cleaned , and all programs reinstalled, with
no change.
When shutting down , after closing all open programs, mine says this
system is busy and either wait 20 sec and try to shut down again or click cancel
to immediately shut down and lose any saved files. Then there is no arrow to
click either one and you have to WAIT and WAIT .
Then it will finally let you click one or the other.
In the meantime you either get a black two pointed arrow or a diamond shape with
four little boxes inside it while waiting for the curser.. Weird?????
Any suggestions (other than discarding the whole thing ) would be greatly
appreciated. THANKS in advance for any help.
