Didn't know this. Now I do. Thanks for the tip.

I have malware scan (as part of an anti-virus suite) running all the time, so that
is probably unlikely. There was a power outage before the problem started, so
that is the most likely reason.

Tried this. Didn't work.

Did this. Didn't work either.

Didn't try these as they don't seem to be directly relevant to my problem, or so it
seemed to me.

I did this last. Downloaded Taskbar Is Missing .vbs file. Ran it. Viola! Taskbar
showed up again.

Did this. Couldn't restore to any of the 10 or 12 restore points.

Ran it. Nothing happened after a momentary display of a DOS window.

I only had two versions. Replaced it from another folder. Didn't work.

Certainly did.
However, because the other suggested steps seemed simpler, I did not try
kellys-korner until the last. But after I tried kellys-korner 117, which failed to
solve the problem, I thought I would never solve it.
With one last try at kellys-korner taskbarplus, I was pleasantly surprised to see
the missing taskbar coming back.
Thanks once again for all the suggestions.
I hope my experience will help someone else if this problem occurs on his
computer.
