Jose,

You're going to get a lot of different answers to this question....some
theory, some past experience.  I'm running basically the same system you are
(Hard Drive, RAM, OS).

I burn a lot of CDs and in doing so, routinely take my Hard Drive down to
about 30 Megs and can't detect any noticeable difference in the performance
of my system.
