My computer, purchased last year, came with 32M RAM. Experiencing dips in
USER free (RAM), and receiving low memory warnings from Norton System
Doctor, tried memory boosters. Didn't notice any improvement, except
temporarily when I manually activated booster. USER free normally 60-70
percent.
Installed another 32M RAM. Several utilities indicated recognition of
additional RAM, but USER free remains 60-70 percent, with dips. Dips have
been down to teens, even below, without apparent reason (many open
Windows, for example).
I am surprised at how low RAM can dip, and I am perplexed why USER free
(same as Microsoft System Resources) percentage did not increase with
additional 32M of RAM.
