I am new to this area of computing, but I know you can handle the .wav files
with Exact Audio Copy (Free) at:
http://www.ping.be/satcp/software.htm
If you're going to rip/burn, pick up Lame and Razor Lame while you're there.
Open EAC, use "Copy Range" under the Action tab.
This program may be overkill for what you want to do-it's way technical, but
will do the job. I didn't see a way to handle mp3s.
Tutorial is at:

I have some files both .wav and .mp3 that are the complete song or symphony
etc. I want to extract just the first 30 to 60 seconds of them and then
burn these clips to a cd. Can anyone suggest a program that will do this?
I have Nero 5.582. I think I can figure out the burning part but what do I
use to extract a clip from a longer track and how do I do it?
