I'd like to recommend what I consider "the best" data backup software - SecondCopy by Centered Systems. I use Acronis True Image for system partition images (although I'm looking for something else because lately it is not restoring properly, but for my data partition, I use 2nd copy to MAINTAIN (on demand - I don't use background) an uncompressed duplicate of my data partition. You can also just make compressed backups - it is VERY versatile. There is an indexed pdf manual. If you read it you can take advantage of everything 2ndCopy has to offer - and that's a lot! I've been using it for over 6 years and (unlike Acronis) it has never failed to be less than absolutely perfect! You can set up profiles of your data drive, numbering your rules to be done in a specified order, even cherry-picking a few configuration files from C:, if you wish. I can't say enough good things about this software.

Subject: [PCSOFT] System Image

I have a Win7 64 bit computer with a 2 TB HD. I have it split into two
partitions C which has all my programs, and D which has all my data.

I did a System Image of my C drive to another installed drive. It was 216
GB. It took about 14 hour to create. That seems very long. Is this
normal?

I've done it in the past and don't remember it taking this long.

By the way, I've had to restore from a system image and it worked like a
charm.
