XP has a component named ntvdm or ntvdm.exe, which is a 16-bit Virtual
Machine, and allows a 16-bit process to execute on a 32-bit platform. So,
when all is well, you should have no problem with your 16-bit apps. Somehow
my computer stopped opening any of my 16-bit programs 2 days ago. The ntvdm
process runs in the background and uses all the system resources until
killed via task manager, but nothing opens. I run anti virus, firewall, and
antispyware apps. and don't think the problem lies in that direction. Before
I give up and reinstall windows, I wonder if anyone has any ideas as to the
problem/solution?
