Actually Hal, it's easy to change the file associations. You could have
right clicked that "log" file while pressing the Shift key. This would
have given you an "Open with" option and you could have selected
Note/Wordpad which will display your log file. This procedure will work
whenever any file association gets messed up as long as you have a
mis-identified file to right click on and the appropriate application to
open it with.
