As far as I know, all AV software requires regular updates. I use Inoculate
it exclusively, and I know it got high marks in a recent issue of PC World.
It has detected at least two viruses for me, and several for my friends.
One feature I like is that I am notified by e-mail about each update.

1- Is Mcafee the same as Norton in this regard?
2- Would I be pointing my friend to an inferior software should I
advise uninstalling Norton and downloading the "free" Inoculateit?
