Go into tools/options/security and uncheck the "do not allow attachments 
...". While you are there, chose "Internet zone ..." rather than 
"restricted zone ..." and chose "warn me ...".

This should take care of your issue. Just remember to keep your AV 
updated at all times.

You might consider going to Thunderbird in place of OE especially since 
you are already using Firefox.
