Hi, Karen,
I think the best way to control your screen saver is to download a screen
saver control or screen saver manager (It's faster to handle). You can
disable or launch your screen saver, etc.... .
Many of them have goodies that can make your life a little easier.
You can find them on the many sites  the Internet offers.
There are many on  ZDnet.com and the search tool that you have can find many
of them.
